First-time Disney cruisers are often surprised by just how much is included—especially compared to other cruise lines. From Broadway-style shows to unlimited soft drinks, Disney Cruise Line packs in the value without feeling nickel-and-dimed. It’s one of the reasons families come back again and again.

Disney Cruise Line: What’s Actually Included?

Ocean & River Cruises

One of the most common questions I get when helping families plan their Disney Cruise Line vacation is: What exactly is included in the cost? And the answer? Quite a lot—especially compared to other cruise lines. From top-tier dining to Broadway-worthy shows to dedicated kids’ clubs (and even a private island or two), Disney Cruise Line does an exceptional job of making you feel like so much more than just a passenger.

Let’s break it all down so you can cruise with confidence—knowing what’s covered, and what little extras you might want to budget for.

Stateroom Accommodations That Work for Families

Disney Cruise Line staterooms are designed with families in mind—and that really sets them apart. First, they’re larger than comparable cabins on most other family-friendly cruise lines, giving you more room to stretch out (and store those suitcases). One of the most thoughtful features is the split bathroom layout: one side has a sink and toilet, the other a sink and tub/shower combo. It’s ideal for getting the whole crew ready without stepping on each other’s toes.

You’ll also find Disney’s signature touches like magical starry-night ceiling lights for little ones, ample closet space, and elevated toiletries. Don’t worry about packing shampoo, conditioner, or body wash—they’re all provided in full-sized bottles, right in your stateroom.

What Dining is Included on Disney Cruise Line?

Disney Cruise Line’s dining experiences are more than just meals—they’re full-on events. Each night, you’ll rotate through three unique restaurants (a concept called rotational dining) with your same serving team who quickly learn your family’s preferences. From the interactive animation magic at Animator’s Palate to the elegance of Royal Court or the whimsical charm of 1923, each space offers a distinct setting and creative menu.

Breakfast and lunch are just as enjoyable, whether you opt for a buffet-style spread at Cabanas or Marceline Market, grab a quick bite poolside, or order room service (which is included 24/7 for most items!). Self-serve beverage stations offer soft drinks, coffee, and tea at no extra charge, which is a standout compared to other lines that often charge for soda.

There are dining experiences that cost extra, we’ll list those below.

World-Class Entertainment

Each ship features nightly shows that rival anything you’d find on Broadway, including fan favorites like Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, and Disney Dreams. You’ll also find movie theaters showing first-run Disney, Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars films—even some still in theaters!

Deck parties, themed nights like Pirate Night (complete with fireworks at sea), and character meet-and-greets throughout the ship round out the fun. And the best part? It’s all included.

🏝️ Disney’s Private Islands: Castaway Cay & Lookout Cay

One of the true highlights of sailing with Disney is getting to visit their private islands—Castaway Cay in the Bahamas and the newly opened Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point.

At Castaway Cay, everything feels effortless. You step off the ship and into a dreamy beach day with included towels, lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a full BBQ lunch with soft drinks. Kids can play safely in the lagoon while you relax—or head to Serenity Bay, the adults-only beach, for total tranquility. There are plenty of optional extras like snorkeling, bike rentals, and cabana upgrades, but even without those, the day is pure magic.

Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point offers a fresh Bahamian flair with vibrant local art, sweeping beaches, and immersive cultural experiences. It’s also designed with convenience in mind—plenty of shaded areas, family play zones, and walkable access to everything. Meals and beach gear are also included here, making your day as easy and breezy as the ocean air.

Whether your itinerary takes you to Castaway or Lookout (or both!), these exclusive destinations are true highlights—and a major perk of sailing with Disney.

Pools, Slides, and Splash Zones

Each ship features a variety of family pools, water play areas, and slides—including the thrilling AquaDuck and AquaMouse water coasters. Younger kids can splash safely in themed water zones, while adults can retreat to a quiet pool area with loungers and bar service. No matter your age, there’s a pool (and probably a soft-serve cone) calling your name.

Kids, Tweens & Teens Clubs

Disney Cruise Line sets the gold standard for youth programming. The Oceaneer Club and Lab (for ages 3–12) offer immersive play spaces themed around Marvel, Star Wars, princesses, and more—with activities led by energetic counselors and the occasional surprise visit from a character or two.

Tweens can hang at Edge, while teens get their own cool retreat at Vibe. Best of all? These clubs are all included in your cruise fare. While the kids are happily entertained, you’re free to sneak off for a massage, a nap, or a second dessert. No judgment here.

So, What’s Not Included on Disney Cruise Line?

While Disney Cruise Line offers an impressive list of inclusions, there are a few extras you might want to plan for. Adult-exclusive dining venues like Palo and Enchanté come at an additional cost, but many couples find them well worth it for a quiet date night at sea. Alcoholic beverages aren’t included either—though you’ll find drink-of-the-day specials, themed lounges, and optional beverage tastings that are both fun and informative.

Specialty coffee drinks (think lattes, cappuccinos, cold brews) from the Cove Café or other onboard coffee bars are also extra, so if you like to start your day with a crafted espresso drink, that’s something to factor in.

Some special onboard experiences require advance reservations and a fee. This includes the charming Royal Court Royal Tea, where little princes and princesses are treated to an interactive teatime with beloved characters, and Olaf’s Royal Picnic (available exclusively on the Disney Wish)—a joyful event full of music, treats, and surprises with Frozen friends.

Spa treatments, Wi-Fi packages, Port Adventures (shore excursions), and onboard shopping are also not included in your cruise fare. And then there’s bingo—yes, bingo! It’s unexpectedly high-energy and genuinely fun, and many families end up loving it. Just know you’ll need to budget separately for your cards if you plan to play.

Lastly, gratuities for your stateroom host and dining team aren’t included in your fare but can be pre-paid or automatically added to your onboard account.
